Kitchen Tongs for Grill and Stovetop: 8 Models Ranked (2026)

8 models, from one 12 in tong to a 12-piece pack

  • 16models shortlisted
  • 8models compared
  • 4weighted criteria

Seven of these eight kitchen tongs come as sets, from two-packs to a 12-pack, and only the KitchenAid is a single tool. ALLWIN-HOUSEWARE leads the ranking at 8.7 out of 10 with 9 in (23 cm) and 12 in (30 cm) tongs in 304 stainless steel: scalloped heads, a 600°F rating and a locking clip. HOTEC takes the value award, GORILLA GRIP is third and AskBed is the budget pick. Scores weigh grip and heat performance, features, build and handling from manufacturer data. For a grill, check the length and the heat limit first; for nonstick pans, check the tips.

Key takeaways

  • ALLWIN-HOUSEWARE wins at 8.7: 304 steel, scalloped heads, thumb rests and a 600°F rating on a 9 in and 12 in pair.
  • Five listings state a heat limit: 600°F for Eddeas, ALLWIN and HOTEC, 550°F for GORILLA GRIP, 600°C for HINMAY. Three give none.
  • Only KitchenAid names a warranty term. Kenaeooe is the one set silent on the dishwasher, and HINMAY the one with no lock.

    Rank 1: ALLWIN-HOUSEWARE 304 Stainless Steel Tongs, 9 in and 12 in

Brand: ALLWIN-HOUSEWARE W Price level Price level 2 of 4

Winner: 304 steel and scalloped heads rated to 600°F, in a 9 in and 12 in pair with a locking clip and loop.

    Ideal for

Cooks who move between stovetop and grill and want one tong for each

The ALLWIN-HOUSEWARE pair covers the stovetop and the grill with one tong each: a 9 in (23 cm) for everyday cooking and serving, a 12 in (30 cm) for flipping food over gas or charcoal. Both are 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish and a 600°F (316°C) rating, and the maker says they won’t bend or warp on a hot grill. Wavy scalloped edges hold burgers and sausages. Thumb rests ease the grip, and a pull-ring clip keeps the arms shut until the large loop goes on a hook. Together they weigh 8.8 oz (250 g) and go in the dishwasher. The catch is the heads: steel, with no silicone mentioned and nothing to say they are safe on coated pans.

    Pros

    • 304 stainless steel, rated to 600°F (316°C)
    • 9 in and 12 in sizes for stovetop and grill
    • Scalloped heads and thumb rests
    • Locking clip, large hanging loop, dishwasher safe

    Cons

    • Steel heads, no silicone tips listed

Rank 2: HOTEC Stainless Steel Tongs with Silicone Tips, Set of 3

Brand: HOTEC Price level Price level 2 of 4

Value pick: three sizes, silicone tips, silicone-cushioned handles and a 600°F rating in the entry price class.

    Ideal for

Households that want small, medium and large tongs in one entry-class set

Silicone tips set HOTEC apart from the steel-headed sets; they are described as heat resistant and less likely to scratch a pan. The three-piece set spans 7 in (18 cm), 9 in (23 cm) and 12 in (30 cm), with the small tong meant for omelets and the long one for a whole chicken. The silicone-cushioned handles include a thumb rest; a ring locks the arms and a loop hangs the set up. The 600°F (316°C) rating and dishwasher-safe construction match the winner’s. At 4.2 oz (120 g) the set has the lowest weight listed. No steel grade or warranty term is given, and the tip shape is not described, so its hold on slippery food is unconfirmed.

    Pros

    • Three sizes: 7 in, 9 in and 12 in
    • Silicone tips and silicone-cushioned handles
    • 600°F (316°C) rating, dishwasher safe
    • Lowest listed weight: 4.2 oz (120 g)

  3. Rank 3: GORILLA GRIP Stainless Steel Kitchen Tongs, 2-Pack

Brand: GORILLA GRIP Price level Price level 2 of 4

Scalloped silicone tips rated to 550°F are aimed at coated pans, but the longest tong is 9 in.

    Ideal for

Cooks who work mostly in nonstick or ceramic pans

Stopping at 9 in (23 cm), the two GORILLA GRIP tongs are meant for the stovetop and the serving table, not a deep grill. Within that range they carry the most specific pan claim in the set: scalloped BPA-free silicone tips described as gentle on nonstick, ceramic, stainless steel and cast iron cookware, rated to 550°F (288°C). That is a notch under the three 600°F sets. The pair is a 7 in (18 cm) and a 9 in tong, with silicone grips and a thumb rest, plus a pull lock and a hanging hook. Both go in the dishwasher; together they weigh 7.4 oz (0.21 kg). Steel grade and warranty term are not stated.

    Pros

    • Names nonstick, ceramic, steel and cast iron surfaces
    • Silicone grip with thumb rest
    • Pull lock and hanging hook

  4. Rank 4: Eddeas 3-Piece Stainless Steel Tongs Set, 7, 9 and 12 in

Brand: Eddeas Price level Price level 2 of 4

Three-piece set in one-piece 1 mm stainless steel with silicone-cushioned handles and a 600°F rating.

    Ideal for

Buyers who want three sizes and a stated steel thickness

Each Eddeas tong is a single piece of 1 mm (0.04 in) food-grade stainless steel, rated up to 600°F (316°C). No other set states a wall thickness. The three sizes, 7 in, 9 in and 12 in, have cushioned silicone handles, and a pull ring locks the arms and hangs the pair on a wall. The text mentions lifting food from boiling water as well as grilling and serving salad. It trails the leaders on detail: nothing describes the tips, the steel grade is not given and no warranty appears. At 9.2 oz (0.26 kg) it also weighs more than double the HOTEC set with the same three sizes.

    Pros

    • One-piece 1 mm stainless steel
    • 7 in, 9 in and 12 in tongs in one set
    • 600°F (316°C) rating
    • Silicone-cushioned handles, pull-ring lock

  5. Budget pickComparison score · data-based comparison, no hands-on test

Rank 5: AskBed Kitchen Tongs, 9 in and 12 in

Brand: AskBed Price level Price level 1 of 4

Budget pick: scalloped silicone edges, a PP grip and an adjustable buckle lock, but no heat rating.

    Ideal for

Shoppers who want silicone-edged tongs in the entry class and will confirm the heat limit

AskBed puts scalloped silicone edges on a 9 in (23 cm) and a 12 in (30 cm) tong, echoing GORILLA GRIP’s grip claim at an entry-class price. The handle grips are polypropylene with a thumb rest. A buckle locks the arms and sets how far the clamp closes; no other pair here works that way. Holes in the handle take a hook. Both tongs are rust resistant and dishwasher safe. The gaps are the problem: no heat limit for the silicone or the grips, no steel grade, no weight and no warranty. Pans, stovetops and ovens are named as uses, but no number backs them, so hot grill use is a guess.

    Pros

    • Scalloped silicone edges
    • 9 in and 12 in sizes
    • Buckle lock also sets the clamp size
    • Dishwasher safe, hanging holes

  6. Rank 6: HINMAY Stainless Steel Scissor Tongs, 10 in and 12 in

Brand: HINMAY Price level Price level 3 of 4

Scissor-style 10 in and 12 in pair in 304 steel with silicone and nylon handles; no lock or loop is listed.

    Ideal for

Cooks who prefer a spring-free scissor grip and don’t need a lock

HINMAY is the only scissor-style pair here, built around a spring-free mechanism that is said to give precise control and less hand strain. The 10 in (25 cm) and 12 in (30 cm) tongs are 304 stainless steel and dishwasher safe, with soft-touch silicone and reinforced nylon handles. The listing quotes 600°C (1,112°F) for the steel, almost double the 600°F stated elsewhere, and gives no figure for the handles. A seller promise backs the pair, but no warranty term is named. Nothing is said about a lock or a hanging loop, so storage is the weak spot, and there is no tong under 10 in. The set weighs 7.8 oz (0.22 kg).

    Pros

    • 304 stainless steel, dishwasher safe
    • Soft-touch silicone and nylon handles
    • Spring-free scissor mechanism
    • 10 in and 12 in lengths

  7. Rank 7: KitchenAid Stainless Steel Utility Tongs, 12 in

Brand: KitchenAid Price level Price level 4 of 4

One 12 in steel tong with a lock and the only warranty term in the set; heat limit and grip details are missing.

    Ideal for

Anyone who wants a single 12 in tong with a named warranty

KitchenAid is the only listing that names a warranty: a one-year hassle-free replacement and a lifetime limited warranty. It is also the only single tong, a 12 in model that measures 11.57 in (29.4 cm). The frame is 430 stainless steel, the arms spring open across a 30° range when the lock is off, and the lock keeps them closed for a drawer or crock. At 6.08 oz (172 g) it is dishwasher safe. The data stops there: no heat limit, no tip or grip material and no hanging loop. Next to the HOTEC set, which brings three sizes with silicone tips in the entry class, that is a thin spec sheet for a single tong in the upper-middle price class.

    Pros

    • Named warranty: 1-year replacement, lifetime limited
    • Locking mechanism, dishwasher safe
    • 11.57 in (29.4 cm) frame at 6.08 oz (172 g)

  8. Rank 8: Kenaeooe 12-Pack Stainless Steel Locking Tongs

Brand: Kenaeooe Price level Price level 4 of 4

A 12-piece pack (four each of 7, 9 and 12 in) with locks and silicone handles; heat and dishwasher data are missing.

    Ideal for

Buffet tables, camps and shared kitchens that need many tongs at once

Twelve tongs in one box is the whole point of the Kenaeooe pack: four each of 7 in (18 cm), 9 in (23 cm) and 12 in (30 cm). Buffet tables and camping are named alongside home cooking, and that is where a dozen pairs make sense. Each pair has a pull-ring lock, a hanging loop and silicone handles described as heat resistant and non-slip. A single kitchen will rarely use more than a few of them. The pack weighs 28.2 oz (0.8 kg) and carries the highest price class of the eight. It states no heat limit, no steel grade, no warranty and nothing about the dishwasher, so care is less certain than for the other sets.

    Pros

    • 12 tongs: four each of 7, 9 and 12 in
    • Pull-ring locks and hanging loops
    • Silicone handles described as non-slip

    Cons

Buying guide: what to look for in kitchen tongs

What should you look for in kitchen tongs?

Three specs separate these eight: how long the arms are, what the tips are made of and how much heat the maker allows. Steel grade and weight come second. Like the small tools in our everyday kitchen checklist, tongs pay off only when the spec matches the job.

Length: 7, 9, 10 or 12 inches

Length is reach. Seven of the eight listings reach 12 in (30 cm) or close to it, and the KitchenAid measures 11.57 in (29.4 cm). That reach keeps a hand clear of a hot grill or a deep pot. GORILLA GRIP stops at 9 in (23 cm): fine for a skillet and a salad bowl, short for a charcoal grate. Four listings add a 7 in (18 cm) tong (HOTEC, Eddeas, GORILLA GRIP and the Kenaeooe pack), while HINMAY starts at 10 in (25 cm).

HOTEC’s maker assigns the jobs: the 7 in for flipping an omelet, the 9 in for medium tasks and the 12 in for a whole chicken or hot meats. Two sizes, as in ALLWIN and AskBed, still cover the stovetop and the grill.

Tips: bare steel, scalloped edges or silicone

Tips decide which cookware the tongs can touch. ALLWIN uses wavy steel edges that grip burgers and sausages, and bare steel suits a flame. On a coated pan it is a scratch risk, and the description never mentions coated pans. Silicone tips come on HOTEC, GORILLA GRIP and AskBed. Only GORILLA GRIP names nonstick, ceramic, stainless steel and cast iron as safe surfaces. Eddeas, HINMAY and KitchenAid describe no tip material at all. Kenaeooe calls its tips precise enough for salad leaves and asparagus but names no material either.

Silicone is not one material with one limit. The heat ratings in silicone baking mats compared differ from set to set, and tongs are no different, so check the figure before you rely on it.

Heat ratings: who states one

A heat limit appears on five of the eight, and the numbers do not share a yardstick. Eddeas, ALLWIN and HOTEC say 600°F (316°C). GORILLA GRIP rates its silicone tips to 550°F (288°C). HINMAY quotes 600°C (1,112°F) for the steel and nothing for the handles. KitchenAid, AskBed and Kenaeooe state no limit at all. Where the scope is clear, the number covers the steel (ALLWIN, HINMAY) or the silicone tips (GORILLA GRIP), not the grips you hold. Treat a missing figure as unknown, not as high.

Tongs turn the steak, but only a probe tells you when it is done, and the meat thermometers compared cover that half of grilling.

Locks, hanging holes and weight

Every pair except HINMAY’s locks shut. Five use a pull ring or pull lock (Eddeas, ALLWIN, HOTEC, GORILLA GRIP, Kenaeooe), KitchenAid names a locking mechanism without detail, and AskBed uses a buckle that also sets how far the clamp closes. Six can hang from a hook or rail by a loop, hook, hole or the pull ring itself, while KitchenAid is meant for a drawer or crock. The lightest set is HOTEC at 4.2 oz (120 g) and the heaviest of the small sets is Eddeas at 9.2 oz (0.26 kg). Kenaeooe’s dozen come to 28.2 oz (0.8 kg), and AskBed gives no figure.

Which set suits which cook?

Match the set to the roughest job you do each week and to the pans you own.

  • On a grill or charcoal, take the ALLWIN 12 in tong, or the HOTEC and Eddeas 12 in tongs, which state the same 600°F.
  • In nonstick and ceramic pans, GORILLA GRIP is the one pair that names those surfaces, and HOTEC’s silicone tips are the alternative with a longer 12 in tong.
  • For every size in one box, HOTEC or Eddeas: each holds 7 in, 9 in and 12 in tongs.
  • AskBed gives silicone-edged 9 in and 12 in tongs in the entry class, but with no stated limit it belongs at the serving table and on pan work until you confirm what it can take.
  • KitchenAid is the answer if one long tong with a named warranty is all you need.
  • HINMAY suits a cook who likes a scissor grip and can live without a lock.
  • The Kenaeooe 12-pack makes sense for buffets, camps and shared kitchens.

For another drawer tool, can openers compared ranks eight manual models. Our other kitchen comparisons cover the rest of the drawer.

Mistakes that make tongs a poor buy

  1. Counting pieces instead of sizes. Twelve tongs sounds generous, but the Kenaeooe pack holds four each of three sizes, weighs 28.2 oz (0.8 kg) and has the highest price class of the eight. A three-piece set from HOTEC or Eddeas covers the same sizes.
  2. Putting steel tips on nonstick. Check the tip material before you reach for a coated pan.
  3. Reading a missing heat rating as a high one. Three sets give none.
  4. Misreading units. HINMAY’s 600°C is 1,112°F, almost double the 600°F that three other sets state, and it rates the steel only. It is a claim about metal, not a promise that the handles survive the same heat.
  5. Assuming every pair locks or hangs. HINMAY lists neither, and KitchenAid names no loop or hole.
  6. Skipping the warranty line. KitchenAid is the only one that names a term.

Cleaning and storing tongs

Only Kenaeooe leaves out dishwasher use, so hand washing is the safe default for that pack; the other seven are called dishwasher safe, and Eddeas allows hand washing too. Open the arms before washing, because food collects at the hinge and in scalloped edges. Lock the pair only once it is dry, then hang it by the loop or lay it in a drawer.

A hanging loop also frees drawer space.

How we ranked these eight tongs

Everything above comes from published data: maker specifications, product descriptions, what is in the box and the price class. The shortlist has 8 of 16 candidates, each scored against the rest of the set on four weighted criteria: grip and heat 35%, features 25%, build 20% and handling 20%. Gaps earn nothing and are never filled in, which costs the AskBed, KitchenAid and Kenaeooe sheets, since none of them states a heat limit. We did not handle any of the tongs, so the ranking reflects what the makers state, not how a pair feels in the hand. The full procedure is on the page about our ranking method.

Frequently asked questions

What size kitchen tongs should I buy?

Take 12 in for grills and deep pots, 9 in for skillets and serving, and add 7 in for small jobs such as omelets. Three listings bundle all three sizes: HOTEC, Eddeas and the 12-piece Kenaeooe pack. ALLWIN and AskBed pair 9 in with 12 in, GORILLA GRIP pairs 7 in with 9 in, and HINMAY pairs 10 in with 12 in. KitchenAid is a single 12 in tong.

Are silicone-tip tongs better for nonstick pans?

Silicone is the safer pick for coated cookware, and three listings use it: HOTEC (tips), GORILLA GRIP (scalloped tips rated to 550°F) and AskBed (scalloped edges, no rating). GORILLA GRIP names nonstick, ceramic, stainless steel and cast iron. ALLWIN’s steel edges carry a 600°F rating, but its description never mentions coated pans, so check before using it on a nonstick surface.

Can kitchen tongs go in the dishwasher?

Seven of the eight listings call their tongs dishwasher safe: Eddeas, ALLWIN, HOTEC, GORILLA GRIP, KitchenAid, AskBed and HINMAY. Eddeas also allows hand washing. Kenaeooe gives no care information, so hand washing is the safe default for that pack. Whatever the set, open the arms to rinse out the hinge.

Are scissor tongs better than standard tongs?

Neither wins outright, because they trade differently. HINMAY’s scissor tongs use a spring-free mechanism that the description ties to precise control, and they come in 10 in and 12 in lengths with silicone and nylon handles. No lock and no hanging loop are named, while every other pair lists a lock. Pick scissor tongs for the grip and standard tongs for easier storage.

Is a 12-pack of tongs worth buying?

For most households, no. The Kenaeooe pack gives four tongs in each of three sizes and points to buffet tables and camping, where many hands need a tong at once. It has the highest price class of the eight, weighs 28.2 oz (0.8 kg) and gives no heat limit or dishwasher statement. A three-piece set from HOTEC or Eddeas covers every size for one kitchen.

Did you cook with these tongs before ranking them?

No. We have not cooked with any of the eight pairs, and no lab data sits behind the scores. The ranking rests on maker specifications, product descriptions, what is in the box and the price class. Every criterion is rated 0 to 10 against the rest of the set, and gaps in the data cost points instead of being filled with guesses.
