How we compare
Komparilo lines up everyday products so you can choose faster – from cat water fountains and coffee scales to monitor light bars and travel adapters. Every comparison puts eight models side by side and ranks them on four weighted criteria: performance, features, build quality and handling.
We don’t run physical tests. Our rankings rest on manufacturer specifications, product data sheets and the product details in Amazon listings, which our editors read, standardize and compare. The order comes from the comparison score, not from commissions.
Komparilo is funded by affiliate links: if you buy through a link marked “Paid link,” we may earn a commission, and the price you pay stays the same. The full approach is described on our How we compare page.
-
1. Collect the data
Manufacturer information, specifications, features and price level are recorded the same way for every model.
-
2. Weight the criteria
For each category we decide which criteria count and by how much – documented openly, without physical product tests.
-
3. Build the ranking
The weighted criteria add up to the comparison score. Commissions have no influence on the order.
Frequently asked questions
How do you decide the order of the rankings?
Each model receives a sub-score from 0 to 10 for four criteria: performance and core function (35%), features and versatility (25%), build quality and materials (20%), and handling and care (20%). The weighted average is the comparison score, and the ranking follows it. If two models tie, the higher performance sub-score decides, then the lower price class. Our How we compare page spells out every step.
Did your team use the products?
No. We don’t run lab tests, and we haven’t handled the products ourselves. Every comparison is a data comparison built on manufacturer specifications, data sheets and listing details. That is why we speak of a comparison score and a comparison winner: both describe the result of comparing data, not of our own measurements.
How does Komparilo make money?
Through commissions from the Amazon Associates program. Purchase links are labeled “Paid link”; if you buy through one, we may earn a commission and your price stays the same. Manufacturers can’t buy a placement or an award, and the size of a commission plays no role in the ranking. See the affiliate disclosure for details.
How current is the information?
Every comparison shows the date it was last revised. We review comparisons regularly and also when something changes, such as a model going out of stock or a manufacturer changing its specifications. We don’t publish prices, because they change constantly; instead each model carries a price class from entry level to high end, and the retailer’s page shows the current price.
Why do you link only to Amazon?
The products in our comparisons come from the Amazon.com range, and all purchase links lead there. That keeps the selection consistent and easy to verify, but it also means our comparisons are not a complete market overview: models sold only elsewhere are missing. If we add other retailers, we will say so on the methodology page.
